Actually, I'm writing this part a week later, as the above part got stuck in "drafts." I spent a few days on the national parks, made some contacts and ended up sending out about 15 review copies. We'll see how it goes now. My next thing is to put together a list of questions and some general info laughingly called "a press pack" that I can use to go for some radio interviews.
I guess I can consider myself an "official" publisher now. There are people selling new copies of my book on Amazon at less than I am! Has to be review copies. It's considered unethical for reviewers to sell them, but what's to stop them? I can certainly understand—there has to be compensation for "reading" so many books, whether they're any good or not.
